This was already revealed in an interview with Kawahara, In the November edition of Dengeki Bunko Magazine (released October 4th)
On that note, the Accel World anime will take place AFTER the current books. (basically a giant time-skip) Here's a translation of the aforementioned Interview |

i would only add to this comment, that IT IS still ongoing and god if it is a masterpiece. i usually say that until rosario is only the introduction of SAO and alicization is the main story. |

I would have to disagree. It basically takes all the worst parts of SAO that most would generally consider to be obvious flaws and spends a massive amount of time emphasizing them. Eugeo is pretty boring as a story companion compared to Sinon or even Asuna. I'm warming up to Alice and what seems to be the second half of the arc, but the first half was a total snooze. Regardless of how it ends, the start was way too long, boring, and repetitive to be a masterpiece. Also, for me what made SAO's 'worlds' interesting was how he included actual mmo mechanics. That isn't entirely gone, but it is minimized which makes the world come off more as just a generic fantasy setting. Anyway, I'm glad this is an original story. Trying to put Alicization into a movie would be beyond dumb. |

it could be that this movie might include this arc as a send off to the series for now. kinda the same way the Index movie was a send off for that series. |

Amazing; we have the exact opposite opinions regarding Alicization. Eugeo is a MUCH better companion than Asuna (unless you want to include Progressive, which wasn't written until afterwards anyways) Alice just feels "meh" to me. It's almost like people have different views about what they liked about something. |

I'm not sure that I can explain it very well. I think it means that he will be the cause of the events in the story but it will still focus on the original main characters if that makes sense. If someone else wants to take a stab at it be my guest. |

As long as it will do a better job to utilize its characters, rather than presenting Kirigaya "Kirito" Kazuto as the VRMMO's sole savior, it might turn out OK.
