Wow! Famous producer Nishimura got double revenge today: he got invited to this highest echelon of cinematic arts when none of female anime makers was. Must feel good today!

Please don't try to detail this thread. Anyway, i'll have to find a full list of who all they invited in. I'm glad they are aiming for more diversity. The Academy is composed of over 6,000 members (and be over 7,000 now), so they could potentially increase their numbers by 10%. I hope ANN does an update of who all from this list accepted. |

I wonder if they will accept. They can invite you, but you don't have to join--politics verses prestige, I think. I honestly can't remember the last time I even watched the Academy Awards. Hopefully new people will bring something new to the mix. I feel like we no longer just have three or four entertainment markets, and globally, the Academy might not carry as much relevance as they used to. It is so easy to find good media without needing someone to certify its stasis as such.
