.. Okay, I'd say that there are 2 possible reasons for this. 1st: This will get darker at some point and all the fluffiness is a jape (I mean, look at their works - Katanagatari, Steins;Gate, Re:Zero.. or Akame ga Kill, even though that one sucked)... OR after all the blood that was shed, they need to ease their minds with something cute again (e.g. GochiUsa~).

Looking forward to it nonetheless. o/ I wonder if the animation director of OPM will have his fair share of co-determination here.. (°-°,)

*Makes an original anime*
*Makes the cast middle schoolers*

Why, oh why? Coming-of-age stories doesn't have to be just middle-/high-schoolers.

Kinda missed the classic magical girl show which is fun amidst its serious-at-times plot (and not overly depressing with a highly possibly life-threatening route, if not simply death route) with a cool male hero as the love interest.

Yeah, more stories of people in their early 20s would be nice. The demand for it is not high enough, I guess.

Cool male hero as love interest in a mahou shoujo kind of anime? That's a recipe for disasterous BD sale nowadays, heck I don't feel like watching if that's the case either. Wink

Too many dark Magical girl Anime have been coming out in my opinion. I hope it stays like the PV.

And whats wrong with a Cool female love interest?

A magical girl anime about shrine maidens? This may be interesting.

Personally, I hope they are also working on a sequel for devil is a part timer, I gave myself two more years before I consider that dream dead, but maybe they both are attainable.

I'm always hyped for new magical girl properties and White fox is one of my favorite studios. So I'm really hyped for this project.

This looks cute! And the last bit of the plot reminds me of a reversal on the string of "male character gets special power only girls have/should do," lol, just a bit.

Looks cute though, and it sounds fun. I'm super curious and interested. Magical girls have always been relatively dark but managed to balance their light-heartedness well, so if this follows the mold of the 90s series (and some of the better PreCure seasons), I am all for it! ♥

Well to me it's got more something to do with the fact that the former trope has just been rare/outnumbered nowadays and as someone mentioned above, even considered as a recipe for disaster. Would be nice to see some variations.

I thought that the other person typed "cool male love interest"? Though, if it was supposed to be a female interest for another female, I will totally watch the hell out of that but that's just me. Shocked
Any way, yes, a male love interest in a mahou shoujo anime is very rare nowaday and I don't really think it was plentiful back then either. But with an all female cast so far as showcased in this article, I doubt that there's gonna be even a trace of male in their universe (or they've there but served as background/supporting cast). Now, seeing White Fox's eork so far, someone has said that this could be another dark work in disguise and I think that may be the case as promotional cover are sometimes deceiving. And looking at how strings of dark mahou shoujo has garnered great sales in the past, maybe they are opting for that route but then again, it could be just a fluffy work much like Gochiusa which has also tons of sale. There's not much to do but wait for more details in the future.
