What shameless self promotion in face of tragedy. I really dislike companies doing crap like this. Just donate money, but don't endlessly boast about it.
And tying donations to views? Awful. And 1 yen per view is laughable. To some extent I accept such practices for ongoing issues like medical research. With setups like 10c from a sale goes to research. But in the case of disaster relief they should feel ashamed.

Sanrio has already donated a few times to help earthquake victims before. One of the main events I can think of is their "Day of Donation." 100% of their profit at their stores goes to the aid the organizations in need.
That being said, I think this is more of a "spread the word internationally" campaign, to help supplement all the other donations they've given in the past.
