It's not even going to be shorts ? Oh god.
I thought it would be 3 - 5 min shorts at best with that App closing soon.

Ain't a half hour runtime means 30 minutes? So, each episodes will be in the usual anime broadcast time or it is going for a 15 minutes slots? I'm dumb so hope anyone can explain. Nonetheless, I'm practically interested. The background is nicely done, though felt like the characters doesn't fit in it somehow.

Again this is even more weird with the AP closing, I could have sworn this would have been shorts.

30 minutes with commercials, about 22-24 minutes per episode.
It's the same with most anime, the timeslots are mostly 30 minutes including commercials.

@Lucy_nyuu : Okay, thanks. Guess with that long runtime, I will be checking this out even more.

When I see "kemono", I tend to think of "Kemono no Souja Erin". The fact that the "Sgt. Frog" creator worked on this tells me Funi may want to license this.

If "The Guinness Book of World Records" had a section for weirdest ideas for animated shows,"Kemono Friends" would probably end up there at the beginning of that section. But,as we've seen before, anime has a love of the weird and bizarre that's present in no other form of animation anywhere on the planet and that includes American animation.

Not to be too contrarian, but I don't think this one even cracks the top 10. Heck, it might have a hard time cracking the list of 'Top 10 strange things Japan has anthropomorphized for animated series' (vending-machine cans, anyone? Swords? Countries?), and that's without even getting into the strange non-anthropomorphizing ideas like, say, 'Giant robot pilots form an idol supergroup'...

Their official line was that the app was just a way to introduce the franchise, and now they're starting a new phase of the project.
Of course, it's likely just a bad excuse.
Either way, I just want a Keroro crossover in the anime like in the app. So far, none of the revealed cast members share VAs with the Keroro crew (they all had different voices from their original ones after being turned into girls), so there's still hope.
