I'd much rather this budget for the side story anime be used to give us another season of the original story cause it only got better.

Why isn't the director of the main story directing this show, it's weird.
Also, I've been reading the reviews of the light novels for Danmachi and I can kinda understand why there is no rush by the production companies on making a second season.

There was still more of the LNs animated than not when Sword Oratoria was announced. Sword Oratoria is also over 1/3 of the novels at this point, having been released at the same rate as the original series since it began. It has a similar number of books out as when the first series was aired as well.
I think it's safe to say if it continues to be successful enough they'll alternate like Index and Railgun.
