Is this important because it means Yamcha will be present in some way in the game?

Because even if he was deprived of his role as Seiya once, the idea that Furuya would not voice Yamcha is quite weird. (instead, I would expect a news for something like "Furuya confirmed he won't voice Amuro in the future Gundam TV remake")

Seeing as how DBFZ is an attempt at a competitive fighting game for the series, Yamucha would probably fill in for a Dan Hibiki style of character for the game if he's playable.

Despite the memes,Yamcha's been presented seriously in previous titles, so there's no reason he couldn't be a non-joke playable character in Dragon Ball FighterZ.
