The Army and Navy officers kinda remind me of non-copyright-infringing versions of Jotaro and Kakyoin.

Remember how Saito was originally heavily opposed to Anthy x Utena because she thought it wouldn't be "relatable and marketable", to the point that Ikuhara ended up lying to her in order to get it in there? She's come a long, long way. I have to think that if it wasn't for Utena, she wouldn't be doing stuff like this at all. It's an interesting story in itself.

Not only Saito has come a long way; that was over 20 years ago and feelings about same-sex couples have evolved a lot in the interim.
