Ehhh idk. Remaking a part of Astro Boy into Pluto was fine, but does Dororo really need a simply re-telling? I'm just not impressed with what Shiki did on AoT:BTF art-wise, either.

I agree...
Some things should be left alone and they shouldn't do remakes unless they can accomplish something significantly different.
I don't consider Pluto "Astro Boy," btw.
Graphically it's different and you really can't recognize the characters. It's thematically similar but almost an entirely different beast.
Still works on its own. You really don't need to have read or seen Astro Boy to like it.
On the other hand, there are certain other projects that tie into older works that are for lack of better terms "generic" and even "crap."
Until I saw CHU, possibly the worst Cutie Honey work (aside from the manga versions which just don't work for me) I saw was Cutie Honey: Tears. It's a very generic live-action sci-fi film that has little to do with the original anime/manga Cutie Honey and is so depressing and downbeat that it really shouldn't have been called Cutie Honey, period.
