I'd probably change that first sentence to:

Madhouse previously animated the Boogiepop light novel series into an anime original television series in 2000.


This will help people understand that Boogiepop Phantom is separate from the upcoming anime. It's not mandatory to watch Phantom to enjoy Boogiepop 2019.
