This seems like the type of manga where it would’ve been best if an anime of it came out in the 90’s. It just looks like it has really dark tones.

Yeah talk about a strange choice/timing. It was pretty good, although some of the middle section felt like the author didn't know what to do anymore and it kinda went in circle for a few volume with nothing of significance happening.

Idiot frustrating protagonist and looping of the plot beside. A very strange choice as pointed out, it doesn't really fit in with things. If it was an ONA/OVA or even a film that would be more understandable. Wonder how they will get the visual tone of this in animated form.

That said if this is the start of someone being a bit more experimental with anime output I got no complaints. The last several cours have not had much in the way of visually experimental stuff.
