To be honest, I was intending on kind of ignoring this movie despite Fruits Basket being one of my all-time favorites since its just not a backstory I have any interest in revisiting but man, now I'm probably going to see it just for a sliver of new epilogue content, aren't I?

Is this supposed to be one film? How are they going to condense three seasons worth of animation + new materials into one? Also, the subtitle of the film is prelude. And yet they're cramming an epilogue into it? I'm confused.

I agree that sticking a recap seems kind of weird, especially when they have to condense 63 episodes on top of the new epilogue and the Kyoko prequel episode. How long is this movie gonna have to be?

Unless it actually proves to be more than one film, and probably even then, I’d guess by ruthlessly trimming the compilation down to a central thread — Tohru and Kyo’s relationship, most likely.

I'm always down for more Fruits Basket content but I wonder if it's too much to hope for that some of the new content might feature Komaki.

Considering that seems to be what the epilogue is about, I would imagine as much.

Ummm it's not adapting 3 seasons of anime. The article said the movie is adapting the parts of Tohru's parents history, and also new material taking place after the series ends. That's not adapting the entire anime into 1 movie.

The Funimation announcement says it'll include a digest along with the epilogue and prequel.

Are there any other significant "holes to fill" in the manga to anime adaption once we get the Kyoko and Katsuya Honda arc? Know there were quite a few complaints about things being left out when the final season was only 1 instead of 2 cours.

Well, there was a certain character who was mentioned once in the anime but never actually appeared.
Komaki, Kakeru's girlfriend.

Nothing yet, but considering the collector's edition box only has room for one more blu-ray case, I wonder if they are waiting to bundle the compilation film into the final season release.

I'd settle for the season in two parts, the way they did with season 1. I just hope they do it.
