I played the last closed beta and it's an interesting game. The big issue with this genre is indeed balancing things in a way that feels fair to everyone, and it seems like that may be especially tough here with it being 7 vs 1. It should almost certainly be tilted more in the 1's favor with that many opponents, but there's also a lot that can go wrong with 7 people.
I seem to recall people saying the best strategy at that point was to have everyone get their transformations strong enough to eventually just jump the boss and kill him without even worrying about the time machine (which it sounds like they may have been at least part aware of at this event). But in the beta, most people (I was playing with randos) didn't know what they were doing, so it didn't work out that way. Of course that changes substantially once the game matures.
It has an interesting price point at $19.99, although it clearly still has some (cosmetic) monetization going on, which I'm not sure how I feel about. I'm honestly curious how it turns out, though.
