Well, considering it's only volume 1 of a 15+ volume manga... yes, the story has hardly begun, but these chapters have done their job of laying down the foundations, introducing the world, the characters, etc. There's so much to introduce here, so much to explain, before delving into the details in the actual story.
Anyway, this manga is so so so good, and I'm happy to see it finally being released in English, getting it to people who wouldn't have read it otherwise. I'm not a Tezuka connoisseur, in fact I don't even like Tezuka all that much (yes, I'm a heretic) so the fact that I'm enjoying this so much without having any particular nostalgia for/attachment to Astro Boy, shows how much it stands on its own feet and has its own personality. Everything is so much fun, so human, the art is amazing... For me though, the greatest charm is the characters. They're just so. good. they have so much charm. (In fact, everything considered, while this may be technically a prequel, I'm really hoping it'll end up being an alternate universe or something, I'd absolute hate these characters to end up where they are at the setup of Astro Boy.)
