Always good to see more confirmation of the sorry state the industry is in. You either give nothing in the story room to breathe and develop because it's a miracle to get more than a single cour greenlit at a time, or you go the Sakugan route and leave multiple plots threads hanging in hopes of getting another cour (only for it to never happen).

I haven't watched the show...but if this show is only going to be 12 episodes then that is going to be a problem. Trigun has about 117 chapters, many of which are 30+ pages. Which means that the show will have to adapt 10+ chapyers per episode to finish the story.
I guess this does explain why they said this was a retelling because...woof...a straight adaptation would be impossible.
