Magic Knight Rayearth is one of CLAMP’s most influential and popular works and one of the most popular magical girl anime of the 90s, but it had many English dubs when it was brought over to America. Let’s go through each one of them.

1. Series (Ocean Test dub): A test pilot dub was produced by TMS and Ocean Productions at some point in the 1990's in an attempt to market the series worldwide. It was an attempt to air the show on Fox Kids during the time. This dub included mandated specific localized character names.

2. Series (Bang Zoom dub): In 1999-2000, Bang Zoom from Los Angeles got the rights to the anime and it was published through Media Blasters from New York. This dub was led by Julie Maddalena as the fiery leader Hikaru Shidou, Wendee Lee of Cowboy Bebop fame as the beautiful but brash Umi Ryuuzaki, and Bridget Hoffman as the shy and intelligent Fuu Hououji.

3. OVA (New York dub): Now this dub will surprise you. In August of 2000, UK anime distributor Manga Entertainment required the license to the OVA series, while its dub was recorded in New York-based studio Skypilot Entertainment. This dub’s 3 main cast was led by three voice actresses from the 4kids dub of Yugioh: Tara Sands (Mokuba Kaiba) as Hikaru Shidou, Amy Birnbaum (Tea Gardner) as Umi Ryuuzaki, and Lisa Ortiz (Serenity Wheeler) as Fuu Hououji.

So, Magic Knight Rayearth’s dub history was a interesting one at best.

You're missing the Summit Media Group dub which was a second attempt to dub the Rayearth TV show for US TV that was using a different New York cast from the Ocean dub or the NY dub of the OVAs. This dub apparently fell through after the initial US cancelation of Sailor Moon but according to Working Designs, supposedly the first 13 episodes were dubbed, though Discotek seems to think dub doesn't actually exist, so it's unknown if it ever made it to completion stage.

It's a lot more common than you might thing for certain older titles to have multiple dubs, especially as licenses have changed hands over the years. For example, a few of the older Ghibli movies were first dubbed by Streamline Pictures before later receiving new dubs by Disney. Discotek's release of the Lupin the 3rd movie Mystery of Mamo is notable for including four separate complete dubs, including one which I think was meant for JAL in-flight viewing. Some series have received English dubs from (I think) Animax intended for Southeast Asia; these have occasionally made it onto US releases with...not the best reception overall. And it's not just limited to past titles, either. In the past few years Sentai has had to redub a few Netflix-produced anime series for home video because apparently Netflix is now very stingy with the dub rights. Maybe the strangest case of this was for Vinland Saga, where Sentai announced they'd be dubbing the series, only to see Netflix stealth-release a completely-different English dub. And that's before we get into the massive cluster that the Evangelion dub situation has become...

Haven't seen any (thankfully), but likely none of them are worth inclusion in the magnificent Blu-Ray remasters of the series.

Uh, Discotek's BD release of the series includes the English dub.

Oh, it's Discotek, I guess that's what they always do.

Was more referring to the JP side of things.

You should be aware it was the Japanese who mandated the localized name changes in the Ocean dub of Rayearth.

Was it going to use the same cast in the ova dub?

This was before that dub existed.
