Season 01: Mission: Yozakura Family (TV) Season 02: Mission: Yozakura Family (TV 2) Source: Manga (completed @ 29 volumes by Hitsuji Gondaira) Demographic: Shounen Animation Studio: Silver Link Genres: action, comedy, thriller Themes: school, spies Plot Summary: Taiyo Asano is a super shy high school student and the only person he can talk to is his childhood friend, Mutsumi Yozakura. It turns out that Mutsumi is the daughter of the ultimate spy family. Even worse, Mutsumi is being harassed by her overprotective, nightmare of a brother, Kyoichiro. Taiyo will have to take drastic steps to save Mutsumi. Air Date & Platform: Season 01: April 07, 2024 (Sunday) Available on: Disney+, Hulu Season 02: April 12, 2026 (Sunday) Available on: Hulu Episode Count / Runtime: Season 01: 12 episodes Season 02: Pending Total: 12 episodes ---------------------------------- Sounds like a variation of Spy x Family, though this seems to have a lot of supporting characters in the key art. It's got quite a bit of source material, so it must have something going for it. Last edited by Tony K. on Thu Apr 09, 2026 2:11 pm; edited 1 time in total |

The first episode was okay enough. The premise is somewhat interesting and the characters are quirky yet it is very predictable and does not do anything that makes it stand out in any way. It is a very mid start and honestly an entertaining mid show is not a bad thing.

The premise is very absurd and I can point to many things in the first two episodes and question it but as long as you turn your brain off it is a decent romp. I do feel bad for Taiyo and how much bullshit he has to go through though.

With each episode we are getting further and further away from actual spy activities but at least it is fun. Taiyo might not be very talented but his sheer strength of will is something to behold (and worry about).

It has been a while but the show is going strong, it is still absurd as can be but I have grown to like (most) of the characters and we even have a compelling main storyline now.

And said main story is only getting better and better with a 20th episode that was really good. This includes some actual emotional moments, a villain you love to hate and animation that suddenly went all out.

This anime skipped chapter 60 in addition to skipping the Flower Bin arc, which is curious the antagonist of that arc appeared in today's episode.
I have to wonder if all that skipped material is because they are planning OVAs, chapter 60 seemed like it would be better as an OVA. Anyway today's episode is only going to be up on Hulu for one day, what is going on? |

While I am usually not a big fan of messing with the order of arcs I am assuming that this ''infiltrate the Tanpopo'' one will take up the rest of the season. If that is the case then it makes sense and rushing is the last thing I want to see. It also feels like it is time for Tanpopo to take some hits since so far they seem to be in control.

Yeah, episode 22 has me pretty hyped for the big brawl that will wrap up the season. While I was not overly impressed with the show at the start it has really grown on me.

And so ends the first season with a second one just having been announced. The show had me mildly interested at the start and now at the end I am very glad that more is coming. The second season news does surprise me though, maybe I underestimated how popular it is.

S2 E1:
Good to have the show back. The first episode was a bit of everything that the series has to offer. Ai seemingly being a permanent addition to the family is a welcome surprise (in part due to Misaki Kuno providing her unique brand of voice acting). Given the opening and ending segment pops is still up to no good. I will likely post here again once the season is over since it is not exactly a hot topic. |

S2 E2-4:
I appreciate the show for making clear how much Taiyo has grown. He started off knowing nothing and not being able to defend himself and now he is getting up there. Not sure trusting ancient dream lady is a good idea though. |
