He had been deprived of his position as the next head of the Edvan Household and was then exiled. The Heavy Knight class had an unbalanced status and useless skills; to top it off, it was even said to be a class for cowardly, indolent people. One things clear, anybody prone to motion sickness or epileptic seizures ought to avoid this bad boy.
Still, I'm glad enough that an isekai doesn't have the standard "mass production" look to give it a shot. Not too optimistic that the plot won't be as big of a swirling mess as the visuals though. |

Yeah, Gohands will make the experience memorable one way or another.

Who in their right mind names their child Malice? Hoping for them to live a life of villainy?
This is not really a revenge start, as it's the father of the family who's to blame, but it's not far from that. Let's hope he won't become another shield hero. At least he seems to have fun playing, so it doesn't seem to be going to that direction. Quite complex visuals here, showing off cityscape panning. Not sure what this is technically, doesn't seem to be plain 3D CGI. |

This is a bizarre computational phenomenon that arises from a GoHands employee once asking an AI to handle hair animation. The animation mechanics designed grew out-of-control and often completely separated from any storytelling functions, but it also designed killer robots to force any GoHands writer to acquiesce to its animation decisions, or face certain death. The end result is what is now commonly described as the "GoHands style"

Experience has taught me to not judge a GoHands anime based on the first episode. Said episode is always used to put as many effects and unique camera angles on the screen as possible like some sort of weird showcase. From the second episode one you can get a feel for what to expect. The premise could be interesting, though it is nothing unique. |

If the first story is any indication (and it should be at least some) the template is going to be bare bones story telling stretched out over a rack of special effects. On the bright side, this gives the MC less opportunities to be annoying, which often becomes the fate of smug gamer protagonists who get isekai'd to a world where game stats appear on command. On the dim side, the episode felt like fifteen minutes of story in a half hour package. The MC doesn't seem to have much of a personality, and Malice is all personality and no dimension or depth so far.
But I did discover something - if I have to choose between a fairly familiar isekai tale being laid out in the usual mass-produced animation style on one hand, and a fairly familiar isekai tale being told by Go Hands on the other, I'll take the Go Hands style. At least it's not a sight that I'm over-used to. Isekai trash panda that I am, I'll give this a chance. |

It's not that I thought y'all were exaggerating but holy moly, that really is a bad show.
Must be way smarter people than me working in the anime industry. I can't even imagine the magic you'd have to know to transform turd into dollars but someone must know the secret if they're investing money producing this. |

For a moment, I thought this actually looked a bit fancy..... until I noticed the bloom(?) and realised that this was done by GoHands, and let out a sigh. I then thought that I haven't seen any of their shows in years and I thought maybe they have gotten better.
What is wrong with this studio? The really sad thing I find with their work, and in this episode, is that some things really feel like effort was put in, a bit of ambition, there are some nice looking bits, but it never feels like it is consistent. I really gets distracting that one moment you can be impressed by how good a character could look with movement, but it is ruined because the lack of frames between the movement (I think it is called in-between frames), that makes it look like a low framerate. Or they planned a big sweeping shot through a cgi created city, to give scale, but it feels like the wrong things have detail and it doesn't at all blend with the rest of the show. I am having the same to back with Hand Shakers, where regardless of their story feeling super YA, the real killer is a lack of consistency, which I thought that it was one thing when it was maybe GoHands just experimenting, but I still see it here in the first episode of this show, and this was supposed to be the episode drawing you in. |

So my reaction to the second episode was pretty much the same as to the first.
When I say that I like having Gohands do a trash isekai instead of another low-end studio doing the same cookie cutter animation...well, allow me to clarify. If I had to choose between all trash isekai being corner cutting animation or Gohands animation...well, that would make a hell of a "Would You Rather" round. And if I heard, for example, that next season of Shangri-La Frontier was going to be animated by Gohands, I'd scream on any forum that would listen. But given a choice between the 251st trash iseka I've seen being the same mass-produced, low-end BS and having a change of pace with Gohands...I'm kind of digging it. Especially after the animation I've seen in other fantasy shows with RPG elements this summer. And, also like last week, the SFX larded fight took so much of the episode - despite seeming to flash by in blurs of light - it felt like I watched a short even though the episode was half an hour long. This was because of the actual narrative/plot progress made, or lack thereof. He had a fight. He had a brief conversation. He checked in at the adventurers guild. Usually that would be half an episode at most. But I'm still sort of enjoying it. |

A recycling episode after only one episode? A weird amount of reused shots in the form of recap/flashbacks in ep 2. Did they blow the budget on that hideous first episode?

The second episode surprised me and not in a good way. With anime from GoHands the first episode is usually an overactive mess animation wise but things settle down with the second one. Not so much here (there were so many weird camera shots). There was indeed a lot of flashbacking done too and that is not a good thing so early on. |

So I guess the forked eyebrows are a clan trait? The hair seems to have calmed down a little bit (I suppose gagh must have a shelf life as the worms die off), but the clouds and trees are still co-protagonists. The fight scenes might make me motion sick except that the player (or my computer) can't keep up, so it ends up a pixelated mess at apparently 240p. Still, I don't feel I'm missing much.
This season it appears the character designers across many series have rediscovered Gina's Law of Interdental Demarcation (the more individually drawn teeth a character has, the more evil or distasteful they are), although GoHands, being GoHands, has expanded this to side characters as well. |

To me, this is feeling like Bofuri if it took it self way, way to seriously and just wasn't as good.
...and it were an isekai, not just kids playing a game. |

Am I crazy or was there like 3 minutes of actual progression in the entire episode? The episode started with a lot of repeating (unneeded) and after that most time was spent on looking flashy (unnecessarily so I might add) while not actually doing anything. I should also mention the endless grunting I suppose. |
