In the school's music department, the "Gift" of famous musicians of the past are implanted into the bodies of compatible students who can match their talent, and those students are then called by the names of those past masters. Beethoven finds that he is compatible with Beethoven's "Gift" and is admitted to the school. I thought this was going to be another ClassicaLoids but less zany. After the second ep, I see I was wrong about the latter idea.
The first half of ep 2 was pretty standard roommates butting heads. Then they brought on the ice skating diva who wanted Mozart to write him an epic accompaniment for his epic skating routine. So...the skating was fine animation-wise, but then spoiler[Mozzie started pairs skating with him, backed up by a fleet of penguins, and ultimately a polar bear, while diva-boy somehow gets reclad in a lavender skating dress and tossed around like the women in pairs skating do, ending with a spin that drills him right through the ice. The cherry on top of all this was Chopin calling out the problem of penguins and polar bears being from opposite sides of the planet.] So they are definitely not taking this seriously, no matter how seriously the composer boys do. I will also say that the retooled classical music is a cut above the norm for UtaPri knockoffs like this, with some lyrics that are about more than doing your best, and nothing can stop us now. |
