Slight correction, Ageha had his Green and Blue Hand skills before meeting the goddess, they're more his skills and knowledge from his past life carrying over.
And while it doesn't come across very well in the anime, the goddess jab just sped up his magic acquisition speed, he would've gotten there anyway eventually (in like a year or two at the rate he was going), that's what the meditation was for. It's also not remembering his past life that triggers the fevers, it's getting too worked up about something, which just generally tends to happen when he's trying to fit his old world with this one. spoiler[It's a side effect from almost dying, his soul was so close to leaving his body, it's not settling back in properly. Which is what allowed him to remember his past life in the first place] One of my favourite things about this series - and one I hope the anime manages to capture - is its depiction of low self esteem. It's never easy to let people appreciate you and love you when you've convinced yourself you're worthless, and the author never takes any shortcuts when it comes to Ageha's mental health journey. |

I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying this show. It's absolutely nowhere near my favorite this season, but it's always a cute and pleasant watch. I think what I like the most about it is that it very much feels like a villainess isekai about avoiding death flags by being nice but with a boy instead. He even admits to having a lot of feminine interests, and the fact that he's so passionate about them is what causes others to be endeared to him. It's very refreshing to see this kind of positivity from a male isekai protag.
I've noticed that every episode begins with the two brothers warning viewers about watching the show in a well lit environment. It made me wonder if this show is actually trying to aim for a slightly younger audience than most other shows of its type. Have these kinds of PSAs been popping up in any other non kids anime? |

I feel like calling Ageha "pudgy" is down playing it somewhat, he is explicitly a little piggy. On the other hand his evident obesity is essentially arbitrary, its basically just a symbol of being his mother's child, and all the negative tropes are left to her (though obviously the father doesn't come out smelling of roses here either).
On the note of which, i get why the father hates him, but was it made explicit why he was abandoned by the mother? But yeah overall an oddly cute show (despite the parents), even if I'm not really sure what it is trying to say. |

It's stated in the second episode, I believe? Despite warnings, she went on a trip while heavily pregnant, and it almost got her and the baby killed, I'm assuming through some kind of premature birth scenario. In typical spoiled "it's everyone else's fault" fashion, she blames her near death scare on Ageha. There's probably also some pride at play here, in that she thought marrying the guy she had a crush on was enough to "win" him, so him basically dumping her to go live with his ex the moment he'd fulfilled his bare minimum marital duties was humiliating to her. And that makes Ageha both a reminder of this perceived betrayal, and a reminder that she's stuck in this marriage with a man she now clearly hates, because of the law of no divorce once you've got an heir together. Honestly, it really just boils down to his parents both being self-centred, immature people completely unfit for parenthood. |

Even the title (and frequently himself) calls him a "white pig." I had no idea about this, since it wasn't in the Preview Guide and the promo image didn't look like something that would appeal to me (and the title implying isekai and put-upon nobles didn't help either, since we've just gotten half a dozen of those in the last couple seasons). But the review convinced me to give it a look, and it's surprisingly charming. It's got a bit of the standard "bringing Japanese culture and civilization to medieval fantasy worlds" tropes, but they're not too obnoxious about it. In some ways it feels like the children's edition of Ascendance of a Bookworm. And I like the elf and the kids are cute. I'm happy to add it to my watch list, since I've already dropped about five others, so I've got room. |
