I haven't seen this anime or read the manga yet, but I grew up in various parts of Japan and just by coincidence, most were near Kyouto and Nagoya, so I ended up speaking a mix of Mikawa-ben, Oumi-ben, and such, which are all under the middle region kansai-ben and close to each other (ie. "kite" for "come" would be "oide/oiden" in Mikawa-ben and "oide/oideyasu" in Oumi-ben). Mie-ben is not that different, so now I'm curious. I like my monster romances and gay romances, so this has been on my radar. ^^
Thank you for the interview~

So you spoke a mixture of Mikawa-ben and Ōmi-ben? You might still use the word 'ossan' when you refer to a Buddhist priest. ^_^
I have read 'Ishikawa Goemon's Childhood' by Kamitsukasa Shōken, and the story is set in a mountainous area in the Kinki region, and judging from geographical clues mentioned in the text and a variation of the Ishikawa Goemon legend, the area in which the story is mainly set may be in Iga Province. Iga Province would later become part of western Mie Prefecture. In 'Ishikawa Goemon's Childhood', a child says, 'Ossan' when he talks to a Buddhist priest. Certainly the dialectal word 'ossan' which means a 'Buddhist priest' is used also in Mie Prefecture.
'Hamo no Kawa', which is probably a prime representative of his works, shows us Kamitsukasa Shōken's having also had a good command of Ōsaka-ben. He was born in Nara and grew up in Hyōgo and Ōsaka. (The Kamitsukasa clan is Shintō priests in Nara.)

I love how Chiaki Kobayashi is kind of aura farming in that picture.
It's always interesting for me when seiyuu try to do Japanese accents. Also he and Umeda have a really natural chemistry.

I adore Chiaki Kobayashi even more after reading this. I fell in love with his voice the first time I heard him watching Spriggan.
Please do more interviews with him when possible!

Glad to know I’m not the only one who had that thought!
