I had to double-check the year, because these character designs really look like something out of the early to mid 2000s. Not that I'm complaining, since it seems like it'll be a fun watch.

Lara's design for some reason reminds me of some early '90s characters from series such as Sailor Moon or Akazukin Chacha, though Mari reminds me of Mio Kofune from Summer Time Rendering. The show's coloring itself, couple with its character designs, does look a bit like a show from the early digipaint days, though shows from that era haven't all aged quite well. That kind of reminds, the other day I saw a post comparing the original Cardcaptor Sakura anime with its sequel series, Clear Card, and how the new anime has a lot of bloom effects and a lighter color palette, I honestly don't like how the new version looks, and looking at Goodbye, Lara I wish they could've replicated the original CCS look using similar coloring techniques/choices |
