It's always interesting to see what people get out of Karaoke Iko when they miss that it's one of those stories about a teenager's inappropriate first crush. Without acknowledging that particular undercurrent, it sort of becomes a story about nothing.
It's like a commentary on FLCL that extols it as a wild and crazy comedy about a boy who has robots erupt from his head for no symbolic reason at all, and his burgeoning completely platonic friendship with the mysterious woman who causes it. |
