And that's exactly the reaction I feared since the day this movie was announced. I was able to experience the story of the game thanks to someone putting videos of their gameplay on Youtube with English subs (though those have since been taken down), and I thought it was pretty good. I even found myself wondering if it could get an anime adaptation so more people could know about it. But I was thinking about a 2 cour TV series, because the game lasted long enough for that.
From the moment this compilation movie was announced, I was dreading that it would become an incoherent mess in its attempts to summarize the plot of the game in less than two hours. Doubly so because, if the point is to compile the cutscenes from the game, they likely wouldn't be making changes to the plot to make it shorter, like the compilation movies of the First Gundam and Zeta did.
Which is a shame, because with the negative reaction this movie is getting, the chances of it getting a sequel to finally give this aborted treasure hunt a proper ending are getting smaller and smaller.

I skipped this movie mainly because I hadn't seen IBO, and since everything I heard about Urdr Hunt was terrible, that was a smart move. I mainly went to see Endless Waltz anyway, which looked awesome on the big screen.

Lol, I did the opposite, I went just to see this movie and left when Endless Waltz started because I hadn't seen Wing. Though really you could watch this movie without IBO, it's completely unrelated other than namedropping Tekkadan a few times and showing two minor characters for like 5 seconds, though there's not much of a point since it's so bad. I described this movie as watching one of those series recap movies for a series you haven't seen after watching it.

It’s good if you ignore some stupid and unnecessary parts of of the first season and virtually the entirety of season 2.
But yeah you’re not missing anything if you decide not to watch it altogether.

I was more referring to everything I heard about Urdr Hunt was terrible, not IBO itself.

You know, I thought it was very considerate how they provided an extended bathroom break before the Gundam Wing Endless Waltz screening. :)

It was never intended to be anything more than an edited clip show, and they were very much up front about that when announced. Fans expecting more set themselves up for disappointment with this. Either people can't read or they just thought it'd be different so show. Idk what they were expecting.

From what I saw most people weren't expecting more than stitched together game cutscenes, they were confused as to why this was even made into a movie much less thrown into theaters. It certainly doesn't seem like it made enough money to justify it financially

I feel like it would have made more sense to just air Miller's Report alongside Endless Waltz since that was how it was originally released in Japan.

I went into the theater with no knowledge of IBO nor Wing, I just wanted to listen to Last Impression while kicking my feet and going "teehee" and finally getting the motivation to watch Wing after having it on my mental to-watch list for 2 decades.
Urdr Hunt was... fine, I suppose? I expected worse when the video message mentioned that it's a compilation film of cutscenes from a defunct mobile game, but it's competent. It never gave me a reason to care about anything happening, but it had me going "huh, I wanna see more of this person" at poncho guy, those flamboyant brothers, and the pirate woman. There were a lot of breadcrumbs laid for a nothingburger, but at least it wasn't boring.
As soon as the IBO OVA ended, I scurried off to throw away some trash and read online about Urdr Hunt. There was mixed reception, so I accepted that this would never be something I would think too much about again.
Endless Waltz was great though, as everyone already knows! I'm probably gonna start Wing this week, Duo and Quatre are locked in as faves.

I wasn't sure what to expect with Urdr Hunt. Ended up watching 40 minutes of it and walked out and waited in the Lobby till Endless Waltz started.

I didn't have any problems understanding Urdr Hunt. If you've watched enough Gundam or just anime in general it's pretty easy to fill in the blanks. Boy comes across Gundam, pilots Gundam, enemies become friends along the way and so on and so on. My problem with it is that it was like a Gundam series compilation movie and I hate those. They just dump so much info on you all at once that it's difficult to retain everything. So the movie is about a 3 out of 5 I guess.
Thoroughly enjoyed the IBO short. Also thought that it was cute that at the beginning of the movie they had a short with cardboard cutouts of the characters like Demon Slayer likes to do with their endings. The cast went to the movie theater to watch the same movie we were watching and some of them ate popcorn for the first time. That was cute.
It was fun seeing Endless Waltz in a movie theater. Everyone singing along to the Japanese lyrics quietly to themselves and clapping at the end. After the Glory of the Losers manga, it still breaks my brain to see the Endless Waltz Gundam designs in the flashbacks. I like the EW designs more and I'm pretty fine with buying into the OG versions of the those 4 mecha never existing, but it still a mental head canon struggle, especially on a big screen lol! Ah well. Mecha nerd problems!

Be prepared for a lot of insanity, a complete lack of coherency, and the characters getting absolutely no development whatsoever.

Speak for yourself. I finally rewatched Wing before this screening and I enjoyed it more than I expected. It has a lot going on and trusts you to keep up - and I think it's a rewardingly good time if you can (not to mention a smarter show than it gets credit for). Although even then it's fun just on the surface level.

Your gentleness and generosity rivals Mother Teresa for giving it only D-. Seriously I'd suspected AI but it would be insulting to AI or any lesser LLM. It's like the writer is neither human nor machine but some bacterial lifeform with no concept of story telling, sequential logic, or human comprehension. I think they picked scrabble tiles off the floor, typed it up and called it a day. The MOST irresponsible (but probably cheap) and disrespectful thing for Gundam fans, ever.
