Change the ending! Change the ending! We already had the same controversy back in season 1 and that resulted in bad stuff

Just how much of the manga has been adapted already? If the manga readers could enlighten me, I would be thankful.

As of the latest episode there's 34 chapters left to cover, unless they significantly veer off course like they have with Kaguya-sama

No need to change anything because of "controversy". If people don't like it then this series clearly isn't for them and they should move on and find something else to claim to be a fan of.

There is a need to change an ending which felt closer to an author going "I'm done with this" and axe-ing it. And anyone claiming to be a fan of said ending, laughable.

In other words, if adapting the manga entirely with no alterations, there would be, at best, material for a movie.

It doesn't work that way. You can be fond of a work and disagree with the final outcome. Saying anything else is an imposition of a worldview. Of course, I'm fine either way. The ending makes sense as is. I would not mind a different ending either.
