It was when the singing hit that I had my suspicions that there was a Symphogear connection. It didn't really connect the singing to fighting, although it did have historical elements and sci-fi elements. It is probably not a good idea to expect it to be Symphogear as the first episode's tone was different, but also remind myself that Symphogear had some early tone issues. More importantly the production company is different.

I didn’t see the episode, but I did find the description interesting about singing being banned, which was also one of the plot points of AKB0048. I also found it a bit funny that the series takes place in 2045 which is also the year that Macross 7 takes place and also features song battles. I’m wondering if this is on purpose or just a coincidence.

It could be a shout out as Macross and Symphogear are popular enough.
As for the show itself: visually I find the Animation to be very well done, plus the storyline is interesting. That being said the plot is more than a little confusing due to so many plot points coming at the same time, though some late episode exposition does help a lot. I 'm intersted in where this goes. |

I agree, the first episode threw a lot at you at once, and it was pretty rough. But I thought the second episode tightened things up and got the story on track. My curiosity is piqued.
