Pretty mediocre debut as far as I'm concerned.
Let's start with the main character being a high school student detective. Not an intern in his father's agency - somebody who has his own office and assistant. Five seconds in and this particular vehicle is already straining the disbelief suspension. Then there's the well trod relationship between the seemingly cold and efficient assistant with yandere tendencies and the standard anime shmuck of a main character who really doesn't deserve such obsessive interest. It's not that it's done badly, just that I've seen it so many, many times before that it ought to throw at least a little something new into the pot to give the stew some distinct flavor. I was mildly interested to see if the MC was going to do a Re:Zero style time loop or regenerate or have precognitive flashes of his own doom, just like I'm mildly interested to see if the moe actress is the one in the clown suit. I'm wondering if the whole cat thing was made up and if there was a cat recording on the phone the MC found in order to lure him in. After all, the guy the MC met in the hall had his face tucked in under a hat and then had his profile hidden, and that was a definite red flag as well. But only mildly interested. |

My guess was that it was the actress. The disguise hides the build so much that it makes me think it looks likely to be hers. |

The second episode has me questioning if I will stick around for this one. The case was not solved with solid detective work but with Sakuya stumbling into both the perp and all the answers needed. The denouncement felt rather lackluster as a result too. As for the plane his father was on crashing into the boat plus whatever was talking to Sakuta in the blaze... no idea what to make of that. |

Okay, the reveal of the motive felt so unintentionally unserious that it took me out. Apparently he was going to spoiler[reveal that the family is selling.... marijuana, so his own mother.] That is right, spoiler[weed was serious enough to have a huge conflict of conscience and the need to kill a family over to the keep the secret]. They also for some reason were spoiler[smugling weed on the cruise ship, in a giant clown on the deck], for some reason.
Move over Breaking Bad. |

The motive in the third episode was not any better. I am sure that the press finding out that the popular girl in question was on a date would damage her career but to then kill the director for it is something else. Letting the perp get away with also has me feeling mixed. He did not kill anyone but that is purely due to the detective being immortal (or close to it). There was again nothing to deduce for the viewer. Add the utter stupidity with Chardina at the end and I am out. This is not a detective show, it is more like a comedy. |

Yeah, the nonsense at the end did it for me. Not that the previous episodes weren't also nonsensical, but this just tripled down on the nonsense (I use that word in the sense of making no rational sense rather than silliness, which would imply fun).
