Does anybody know if Train+Tain was a Light novel series before it became a manga? I ask this because that happened with R.O.D. which has the same author.

Kurata Hideyuki also wrote a TRAIN+TRAIN light novel. Takuma Tomomasa drew illustrations for it, too. As to the light novel, the first volume was published by MediaWorks in 1999 and five volumes have been released.
