I think I'm loosing it here, as I was positive that I saw a press release blurb on ANN about Media Blasters scheduling a release of Strawberry Panic with a dub, but now I can find nothing about it.
All the other MB dub re-releases I remember have actually occurred (Kashimashi, Punie-chan-albeit sans dubbed omakes), so did this one get cancelled? Or did it never exist? (Naturally the Media Blasters' website, which quite frankly blows, is less than helpful in answering my question here. I'd be better off tracking them down at a con & asking them in person than I would be trying to slog it out on that site.) |

It was announced along with Kashimashi and Loveless early December '10. It was noted that it will be released sometime in 2011. If that's still true, that leaves them 3 months to release this. Other than these info...nothing more has been said about this (at least publicly).

That's a pity. While i very rarely watch anime dubbed anymore nowadays, i must say i would double-dip on Strawberry Panic just for the hilarity of voice actress outtakes and/or commentary alone. So what MB means is that SP's sales thusfar suggest that a dub would be viable, but they consider 26 episodes worth of dubbing cost too much of an financial risk, right? In that case, wouldn't it be worth releasing the first part of the series dubbed first, and have the sales numbers determine the viability of the second part? Strawberry Panic actually has a pretty good potential midway cut-off point after ep.14, so i think it's an idea worth considering. |
