These 3 reasons are what I think are the main ones:
1. It changes the original work by adding the dubbed voices. 2. Subtitled dubs and "dub only" DVDs don't always stay faithful to the script. There are obviously bad quality scripts. 3. The pronunciation and lip syncs are always correct. However, a great deal of the titles I've seen may get an "A" or "B" overall. So, regarding the the titles that are faithful, why are they still opposed and so critical? |

The Japanese voices are generally better, both more on character and better acted. They also do typically have scripts that are more faithful to the original. Even the best US dubs, like Bleach, for example, take more liberties than I like in my anime, dropping honorifics, using American words for Japanese concepts (like Shinigami), and using the wrong names for characters (like Ishida). Things like that might not matter to everyone, but they do matter to me, so I prefer subs.

Arguing your own opinion on a topic that will vary from person to person is moot. Everyone will have their own preferences, so let's just leave it at that. We've all seen where this debate goes...
