I'm not talking about the older movie or the manwha but the 1998 movie by Mushi Pro.
Does anyone know why it has been left out? http://www.anime-planet.com/anime/1001-nights |

Some sources say it was produced in 1998, others say 1999, and still others say 2000. Some say it's an OVA while others say it's a theatrical movie.
I'm pretty much occupied with an important report until Tuesday, so I'll leave the problem until then. If any other Encyclopedist or veteran user like doc-watson42 knows more about this title please fill in more information. TIA. |

It's 1998: 
The credits display several studios, but only one of them mentions 1001 Nights in their current websites: Yowza Animation. Hyperion Studio Blur Studio Gill Bradley Productions Eyeheart Art & Production Co. Maverick Studios Red Rover Studios Screen Junkies Stardust Pictures With so little Japanese involvement, should it be considered anime? This is why I asked if Amano should be credited through non-anime staff for this one. |

Just so that the staff has more data to decide if 1001 Nights is anime or not, below are the names that appear on the opening credits:
Conceived and Designed by Yoshitaka Amano Original Score Composed by David Newman Conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen Performed by the Los Angeles Philarmonic CGI Director/Creative Supervisor Noriaki Kaneko Produced at Hyperion Studio by John Lanza Jr. Mike Smith Chris Young Commissioned by the Los Angeles Philarmonic Filmharmonic Series Produced by Lyn Benjamin Richard Kraft Produced by Yukio Sonoyama Directed by Mike Smith The ending credits have lots of people from each of the studios mentioned on the post above. |

Anybody with opinions on this? To me it doesn't sound like anime since the only Japanese creator involved in this was Yoshitaka Amano, and it doesn't appear it was meant for the Japanese market. It might be worth adding under quarantine...

I concur. It reminds me of Thundercats, and the latter had more Japanese staff involved. |

I agree as well. There's very little Japanese involvement, so it shouldn't be added as anime.
It can either be added as "not anime" (quarantine) or not at all and the credit added to Amano under "staff in non-anime project" I'm leaning very lightly towards the former (quarantine). -t |
