Does anybody know if it ended at 7 volumes, or is it still running in Japan?

Mag Garden published 9 volumes of the Jinki:Extend manga. (Enix and Mag Garden also published 4 volumes of the Jinki manga.)
After the trouble between the manga artist and Mag Garden, MediaWorks' Dengeki Moeoh carried Jinki Gals Collection. Therefore a magazine published by MediaWorks may be going to carry a Jinki manga.
