I want to turn that thing off like I did on the other forum to
reduce loading time and make page clear. |

As far as I know you can't turn them off. I have never heard of a aplce where you could actually. Though I'm sure it can be done somehow I would think.

You could just block the image of each person every time you see an avatar for the first time. This wouldn't really reduce load times for the first few pages or if you only come here sporadically, but if you're a frequent visitor here, it would certainly help.

Goes to show that people really are effected by image load times here. Next time someone complains about not being able to use signatures we should point them to here.

Now does that work for just that one particular avatr or all avatars that user may have? As in people like me and Lydia that do weekly changes. Say they block my current one for example. Will all my avatars be blocked from here on out or just the one particular avatar? |

Oh no, it just blocks the one image. That's why I was saying that it largely depends on how often they visit. While there are some people that change theirs weekly, I maybe only change mine once a fortnight, or maybe even a month if I really like it.

OK, thanks for clarifying that. I never even knew you could block avatar images. But I'm a techno noob so what do I know heh.

Actually, depending upon what you use to block images/ads you can directory and site block too. I use Ad Block Plus on Firefox and I can set a filter to animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/images/avatars/* and snag ever avatar on the forum. |
