This is my first attempt at an anime review - so please let me know what you think.

Kino’s Journey starts off with a simple premise – a young traveler visiting the countries of the world, staying no more than three days. And quickly evolves in to a more reveling look at human nature through the eyes of the traveler. The countries quickly become a back drop for the deeper meaning of the episode. Using the current surroundings and dialog the between the main character and the motorrad Hermes the viewer is invited to take a deeper look at the world around them.
The episodes on this DVD meander as various ideas are explored like countries of the world. The first episode introduces Kino to a country that seems inhabited solely by machines with no people around. The second episode digresses from the theme of visiting countries to allow Kino to stop and assist some traders stranded by the road side. The third episode allows us to see how seemingly unrelated things can affect others without them knowing. Finely, the DVD concludes with the fourth episode which gives more insight to Kino’s background as an individual.
The animation for Kino’s Journey is clean and simple, but effectively used to set the mood for the current scene. With several distinct styles being used depending upon the situation. The music is unobtrusive and allows the view to focus upon the dialog, while at the same time adding to the uniqueness of the anime. The voices are well done and fit the characters.
This anime is highly recommended for anyone seeking a more deeply rooted anime that leads to philosophical thought and discussion. However, it is best noted that the DVD carries a suggested age rating of 15+ due to some disturbing moments in episode 2 “A Tale of Feeding Off Others”.

Not bothering to check, but did you count those words? (were you that bored?) 
I think the problem with the review here is that it is short. I think it comes off more as a synopsis rater than a review and needs to come with some more depth. What kind of emotional appeal does it have? Does it have a valid comparision to any other anime of its like? How do the episodes relate to each other? How does the character's history affect where that person is today? Expound on the music and animation styles used.
A review will often contain some kind of spoiler if you are going to go into the storyline. While it doesn't have to give the key elements away, mentioning more about what is going on in the series wouldn't hurt.

Thanks for the advice. I'm working on typing up a longer version - I should have it done some time tommorrow, and will post it if I get a chance.
