I'm not sure if this topic has ever come up but I was just wondering. I just saw X on the starz action and is the tv series an alternate retelling of X? Seeing the end of X makes me wonder how it could not possibly be a sequal.

X TV series is an alternate retelling, and the story more closer to the manga. I heard the ending of the series is VERY different from the movie. Of course I'll have to buy the last 2 volumes of the DVD. Wink

I really liked the movie a lot but the ending was really quick and unsettling. It's hard to cram all of the manga (which I havn't read) into a 2 hour movie. I'm looking forward to seeing the tv series and hopefully you're right about the ending to the tv series.

X the manga is currently 18 volumes long, and still going on in Japan. It has NOT ended, but that little factor hasn't stopped madhouse from producing a movie and tv series. The movie was made when about 10 volumes of the manga were done, the tv series at about 15. The tv series is a acurate retelling of the manga, but towards the end the sway off to give their own ending, that hopefully will be different then the manga ending when they decide to end it.

It's already been confirmed that the manga, movie, and TV series will all have different endings. If I'm not mistaken, CLAMP themselves said they had different plans in mind for the manga.

Like Trigun is still going strong in japan, they made the anime REALLY early.
