Well in the past month, there has been two topics. "What kind of Anime character do you like?" and "What Anime wallpapers do you have?" (or something like that). So I decided to merge them together to make this topic.
I think that Bishounens make the best wallpapers, like Sesshomaru or Vincent Valentine. Also, innocent, yet sad girls make good wallpapers too. A good "wallpaper series" (an Anime series that's good at being wallpapers) is X/1999. I just love the way they're done. |

I've always liked either sad or angsty wallpapers. The problem with using anime characters that are too busty, in lewd poses, or too damned cute/cheerful is that people who walk in and see your computer think you're a massive freak. At least with the dark, angsty wallpapers (Kenshin OVA, X/1999, Saikano), people will think it's at least mildly cool.

I prefer a meloncholy looking character, or at least one that doesn't really strike me as "cheeful."
I have a Shinmori Aoshi wallpaper that has him just holding his twin kodachi in a pose that makes him look ready for battle. He also has a nice poker face, which pretty much should be explanatory in itself. I also like dark wallpapers. By dark, I mean not so bright colors. Since I have dial-up, I sometimes leave the computer on overnight for downloading, and I have to wake up awfully early to turn in off at times, and I would prefer not to have a plethora of whites, lime greens, and pinks blinding me when I turn on the monitor.

I personally like 2 different types - which very depending on my mood.
If I'm in a blah mood - I like darker ones. Like Kenshin OAV's or something from Lain. If I'm exceptionally happy, a Harem Anime type wallpaper suits me fine. |

I prefer darker ones with darker colours. That are sort of melancholy ones that are not to busy and not easily enough to see the fine detail unless you are right up to it. This is just because I prefer more quit wallpapers instead of ones that grab your attention and then I can concentrate on anything else but the wallpaper which should be in the background.

I don't know, currently I'm going with the cute anime characters (I used to do the dark ones, but that just got too depressing). Right now I have one of Chii and I'm liking it.

I currently have an Aoi Sakuraba desktop wallpaper with her holding a red traditional umbrella (whatever they call them) in front of a backdrop of flower petals. really neat.

Mood isn't really much of a factor for me. As long as it's well-crafted and features a character I like from a title I enjoy, it's fine. I went from a really cheery DiGi Charat wallpaper to a really dark Boogiepop Phantom one, then to a rather sensual Noir one (high-quality screencap of Chloe from episode...twenty-four, I think; bath scene), a .hack//SIGN one with an irritated-looking Subaru, and finally to my current one (Ren Mikihara, Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu). All varying in mood, but they looked good and featured characters I liked, so meh...

I love anything with a girl on a darkish background.
Steel Angel Kurumi, Ruri-Ruri have some good ones, as does Sakura Wars (Okay, I prefer Sumarei  )
The only ones on a light background that i like are the najica ones, I tend to modify the others. |

I always loved my Kenshin wallpapers. Outside of Kenshin, I have a few Bebop wallpapers, a trigun one and something from Battle Angel Alita. All good stuff.

I find I use a lot of Rekki wallpapers from Haibane Renmei. Probably because I connect to that character a ton...
it's not a character per say, but gimme any art by kaori yuki and I'll probably plaster it on my desktop. |

I split my interests... for my work machine, I use a lot of Macross Valkyrie wallpapers and other mecha. At home, it's all about the chicks and cute stuff.

I haven't really cared what anime character was my wallpaper. All that mattered to me was that the mood the people were in or if it looked really cool.
The moods that appeal the most to me are ones where people are cheerful and happy or just having fun. A serious one is also good. I also like a fight seen as a wallpaper where 2 people are fighting or something.

Anything with a lot of white, and a nice clean graphic that doesn't fill too much of the screen.
Females mostly. Cute is nice, depressing.. all that. I currently use this, but switch off between it and a few others. (Haibane Renmei, Iria..) That saikano one my favorite though. |
