Anyone seen those new anime titles made by the chinese?
titels like : Decheng Way of the warriors Bird city -I saw ads for them in a recent issue of anime insider and noticed that TheRightstuf carries them. I'm just wondering if they are any good. ??? Anyways, I've seen ads for Way of the Warriors, and I was wondering what it was like myself. The cover art doesn't look too bad, I wonder about the rest of the show. |

I remember coming across a korean anime once, but i forgot the title =(.
I know theres quite a bit of Korean manga thats already in the states like Fiary's Landing. |

If you look carefully at the credits during the ending theme, you'd see lots of Chinese and/or Korean names and companies, especially for in-between animation, since this job is repetitive, time-consuming and lowly paid, thus it's getting more and more difficult to find Japanese youth to do the job. It won't take long for those animator/companies begin their own project. Maybe someday in the future we'll see Iraqi names in the credits. Who knows?

China has been producing animation for ages! Animation like "Journey to the West" and "Nezha" and some others too. I can't remember how old those animation are but I've watched them before when I was a little kiddy like maybe 6 or 8 yers old I think.
I don't think you can call them anime, because the anime style is quite distinctly Japanese. But of course, as we have pseudo-manga, we also have pseudo-anime. (Tsui Hark's) "A Chinese Ghost Story" was done in anime style but it originated from Hong Kong. |

Well, An Corean and Chinese workers has perform so-called unskilled labour, IMHO. A creative work has been prodused by Japanese artists. It is above all. |

Well, like it or not, quite often they're the ones who are actually doing the grunt-work of animation itself. The ideas and character designs might come from Japanese artists, but the animation is rarely done in Japan, except for things like Studio Ghibli animation. You don't see many Chinese or Korean names in anime credits (although they do exist; Dirty Pair Flash being one obvious example)... usually, they'll just list the studio names instead. The studio names say NOTHING about the location of the studio or the nationality of the people doing the animation.. unless, of course, the studio is something like, "Studio Kyoto", in which case you'd hope it's based in Kyoto. :) |

I think that show Bast of Syndrome was made in either China or Korea and that show kicks ass. Pretty interesting storyline and pretty solid jokes.

I think anime is a style. As such, anyone in the world can make it (although Totally Spies and Teen Titans can show how badly failed attempts can turn out). Conversely, Japanese animators can produce works that would not fit within the "anime" genre, such as works that fit more into the Americomic style of realism, or warnr bros's-esc cartoony. It rarely happens though, and again for some reason it never looks quite right.

Exactly! In fact I just said the same thing too a couple of posts back. It's a style, and it is distinctly Japanese. Some try to cop it and most times, it doesn't work. Tsui Hark's "A Chinese Ghost Story" was done like that and it didn't work for me too. I preferred the live action movie. |
