D. H. Lawrence, the author of Lady Chatterly's Lover, wrote a book about how the Book of Revelation in the New Testament is a betrayal and subversion of real Christian thought and belief as expressed in Jesus's teachings; that Revelation undermines all the New Testament before it. I mention this only because it reminded me of people's complaints about End of Eva; the idea that the last, apocalyptic installment, which was written much later, is a betrayal of the earlier work.
Just a thought. |

Now that I've thought about it, Shinji acting like an a**hole at the end must be an allusion to Anno's tax evasion.

Uh...
Looks more like a reference to Anno's own frustrations about interpersonal relations to me, but anyway, it was my understanding that Anno himself wasn't dodging taxes. It was people in the company, but Anno himself wasn't implicated as far as i know. |
