i think that they should make a dbz special focased on the war between the trusu-jin(i dont think i spelled that right) and the saiyia-jin.What do u think?

The production of DBZ ended in 1997. The only way if akira tiroyama can get funding and is willing to do this.

Okay, first of all, let's get the names right. The warrior race is known as Saiya-jin (or Saiyan or Saiya...all are acceptable). They killed off the Tsufuru-jin (or Tufirs, or according to FUNimation's mangled translation, Tuffles). The manga was penned by Akira Toriyama.
And, with that aside, we can tackle the issue at hand. I think a special about the conquest of planet Vegeta would flop. Dragon Ball is *not* known for having an outstanding plot. The story isn't its strength, and further expanding on a relatively unimportant plot point isn't going to make the show any better. The reason the Bardock and Trunks TV specials worked is that they were both tied to members of the main cast and helped develop the characters, not just the story. This special just...wouldn't be any good. And that assumes that it would even be popular enough for Toei to animate it. DBZ was pretty popular in its day -- it averaged a 20.5 rating and the lowest point it ever hit was 12.1 (in contrast, Eva averaged 7.1, dipped to 0.9, and peaked at 10.3, and Cowboy Bebop's numbers were 4.6, 3.2, and 5.6, respectively, just to provide a few examples), and with the recent republishing of the manga and release of the Dragon Box DVD sets, it's seeing a moderate resurgence in Japan. But is there really an audience for a brand new production, almost exactly seven years since the end of GT (which, by the way, experienced significantly lower numbers than DBZ: 14.6, 9.6, 19.7)? Toei might not think so, and Toriyama doesn't seem interested in doing anymore Dragon Ball manga. Short answer: No. There should not be a new special, and there definitely shouldn't be a special about the Tsufuru-jin. More importantly, there *won't* be a new special, so there's nothing to worry about anyway. |
