Hahahahahahahahahahahahaahahaha!! Laughing Laughing Oh boy that's a good one!!

Well, it's funny enough. Well, 'Inuyasha' is ABOUT a female heroine and a whole slew of other characters. Including a "long-haired-dog-eared demon". Funny thing is that if you look up "yasha" it translates to "female demon". Don't ask me why this is a standard definition.

As for 'NeoPets', no way It's anime! Hmmm could there be an anime based on it? Hmmm...

Kind of like calling anything that comes out of Japan an anime. Hahahaha!!! Hoo boy! Seems someone over at Lycos didn't do their homework.

Yeah well, sad fact of the matter is that normal people don't care about anime. Hell, Time magazine fsck'd up their artical on the "top 5 anime movies on DVD" because they put a subtitle that essentially said Sen had a pet Ghost (in reference to Spirited away, btw). It's wrong, but nobody outside of the anime community really gives a flying shite, and therefore, isn't really a problem for mainstream society.

On that note: LOL @ Inuyasha part.

haha...this just proves that the people of these "mainstreem sites" don't know what the fuk they are talking about...

It also plays along the same line as these big reviewers giving anime and anime-games bad reviews. One has to be a fan of the series to get what it's about...

from my research into InuYasha's name, it seems "Yaska" is a more accurate romanization of his name than "Yasha", which is the chosen romanization because it looks better. Yaska translates to "Forest Demon" or "Forest Guardian" and the forest InuYasha was associated with (and sealed in the midst of at the beginning) was called InuYasha's Forest, so it does make sense.

and Yasha is the name of a specific kind of female demon who takes the form of a blood-drinking bat in Japanese mythology and the name of a female demon in another area of Asia.

I was just thinking the same. I used to use search engines like Lycos and ixquick, but Google out did them all. Razz Neopets as anime...anime influenced maybe, but so are a lot of things. One of these days, some big company is going to get the facts of anime repeatedly correct, and I'm going to act surprised and go Shocked Surprised Anime smallmouth + sweatdrop Anime hyper .

It's more likely that Neopets WILL become an anime before that happens.

Nobody I know even uses Lycos anymore, it's Google all the way. Still, it's sad that they couldn't even get basic facts right.

Though I still prefer something like this over the days when Blockbuster rated everything anime "Not To Be Rented By Anyone 17 or Under" I remember I want to rent the first tape of Fushigi Yugi, and my dad wouldn't let me because of the rating.

Blockbuster sometimes still does that. Voices of a Distant Star is "youth-restricted" at my Blockbuster. I haven't seen it yet, but I can't believe that one 30-minute anime about a love story could contain so much that was dangerous for kids. To add insult to injury, they put dvds like an ewoks cartoon into the labeled "anime" section. Rolling Eyes

Hmm, Inuyasha as a "Japanese anime cartoon female heroine." Sounds like they've got Sailor Moon on the brain.

Yep. Absolutely! Correction to the word is spelled "yaksha" or "yasha" as well. It can also be called, 'raksha', 'rakshasa' and of course 'rasetsu' in Japanese. Only heard of this one in 'Sakura Taisen'.

I had always wondered if his name related to the same reference. Cultural changes from Asia to Japan. It may not necesarily mean he has to be a female to relate to the word. But who's to say what a "yasha" is supposed to look like. You don't take a definition literally. Hahaha! Now I have a better understanding to the meaning. Who says that anime can't teach you something.
Thank you. Wink
