I am loving your intro dramas. Kudos to Erica for going along with it. And yes, I laughed at the episode title, too.

Erica's discovery connecting Utena to Yaneura no nishojo was maybe the highlight of the episode for me.

Oh I definitely am on board with wanting more action yuri. I love my Girl Friends, Kase san, Bloom into You, etc. but I also crave something out of those samey settings. In particular I really want stuff where the protagonist has a lesbian relationship but that is not the main focus of the story. Incidentally, I actually stumbled upon exactly that recently with The Rise of Kyoshi, which I had no idea would have such themes when I bought it but was rather happy to see (and I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the Avatar universe or also wants what I just described).

I kind of wish I'd taken notes while listening to this so I could check out some of the series mentioned and also because there's a lot I'd like to comment on but now that I'm here I don't remember enough specifics...

I don’t have the opportunity to listen to the podcast, but I appreciate this chance to say hello to Erica! I'm not very involved in the western yuri community, but I think few people will argue with me that Erica Friedman is one of the best American yuri bloggers, if not the best.

Now I need to dig out my six volumes of Hayate Cross Blade from my back shelves of unfinished manga and read them again.

Hi Everyone -

Thanks for listening to this. I've tried to list everything we talked about and whether it was an anime or manga and if it's available in English.

Sailor Moon - Anime (Viz) Manga (Kodansha)
Revolutionary Girl Utena - Anime (RightStuf) Manga (Viz)
Kase-san and Morning Glories- Anime (Sentai) manga (Seven Seas)
Maria Watches Over Us - Anime (HIDIVE, RightStuf)
Sexiled - Light Novel (J-Novel Club)
Otherside Picnic - Light Novel (J-Novel Club)
Noir/ Madlax/ El Cazador de la Bruja - Anime (Funimation)
Hayate x Blade - Manga (First 6 volumes Seven Seas, but probably out of print)
Hana no Asuka-gumi - Manga, anime, TV, movies and novels are JP only
Yaneura no Nishojo by Yoshiya Nobuko - novel is JP only
Itoshi Koishi (the name of which I get wrong *all the time*) by Takemiya Jin - manga is JP only.

I hope I didn't miss anything, but if I did, please feel free to ask and I'll do my best to fill in the gaps. And let me know what you think of these series. Anime smile

Kase-san and the Morning Glory is on my to-watch list, but I don't know if it's available in English or not. I'm very fond of Bee Train's "girls with guns" trilogy. I still rewatch Noir every once in a while and love it to pieces. And yes to more action yuri!

It is. Anime Blu-ray is out from Sentai, and the manga is out from Seven Seas.

All the Maria Watches Over Us seasons and light novels are great! My favorite volume is Twinkle, Twinkle, Twirl. My favorite character is Sei, although I identify the most with Yoshino.

I think I've mentioned this before, but your "It's A Woman's World: Bodacious Space Pirates, Maria-sama ga Miteru and The Bechdel-Wallace Test" essay is what prompted me to check out Bodacious Space Pirates, so you're indirectly responsible for my username. Laughing

Sorry that I skipped it, I've added it in. Yes! Kase-san is available in English. The anime is out from Sentai and the manga from Seven Seas.

If you want to know what I think about something, check out what I've said about it on Okazu. Anime smile Simoun has a category to itself. http://okazu.yuricon.com/category/series/simoun/

I thought it was brilliant.

Somewhere in the back of my mind, I wish all the yuri anime shows (both good and iffy) that premiered in Japan from last year were premiered this year to really solidify the 100-year celebration because this year's offerings are pretty dire.

I will await the day Murcielago gets adapted as an anime TV series with all of its bloody guts and sexual glory in tact which I imagine would be a perfect candidate for Netflix. Cool

Hello.
This question and comment is directed @yuricon.
I'm a guy who enjoys reading yuri for the story. Some of the stuff you talked about on the podcast i've read/seen. I've really enjoyed those titles. While i am not ashamed of what i have in my collection,i don't usually tell most people about me reading it either.Mainly because of the stigma that is easily attached to it(a guy reading that type of material). Just was wondering is it common for guy's to read it(yuri)? While i am not a straight person,i don't fall into the gay community either.
