Well, that's underwhelming. The processed images still just look like photos with a few filters thrown on.

I don't think something like this, even if it was looking better, will make background artists obsolete anytime soon.
But with some more work on the program or maybe a digital artist doing some post-editing work, I could see this being used in low budget productions to safe some time and money.

Maybe at the cheapest, lowest end of the market. When you look at the images full size, they look like crap - like a cheap filter from a no name ad shoveling photo app. Honestly, from a photographic/image quality point of view, they're surprisingly bad.
There's promise there, can't argue otherwise... But the process is anything but ready for prime time and viewing on anything but a mobile device.

Yeah, something seems off with those images. Don't get me wrong, I think they look great for what they are, but I can't really see this being the norm anytime soon.
