Episode 16 and I still have no idea of how that school works.

Where are the teachers?
Where is the police?

I was suprised at how suprised Nirei and Suo was at Sakura living alone because I assumed this show was set in a dystopia were all adults died in some kinda freak incident that only spared children and store owners

lol yeehaw. That does seem to be the world they're living in. I'm thinking that huge vine on the roof that's slowly consuming the school is an alien lifeform ruling over all - they've even constructed a bridge over it rather than cutting it back, though going by the rest of the incongruently tidy landscaping, the school does seem to have a gardener. Unless Umemiya's crew is doing the caretaking of that as well as his rooftop garden.

I like Tsubaki too, even if he* does have South Park face. I was a bit worried when the character was first introduced last season, but I'm happy that was unfounded.

We used masculine pronouns for Tsubakino in the manga because we were informed by Editorial to use he/him for him. I asked our project manager to talk to Editorial to ask the mangaka how to handle him a while back, and the answer we got was “he/him.” Unsure if this means that Editorial made this choice or if the mangaka himself did. At any rate, all I know is that Tsubakino wants to be officially addressed as he/him. SEE. THERE IS SO MUCH I CAN SAY ABOUT TSUBAKINO AND WHAT THIS CHOICE MEANS!!!

Truly are there any teachers at this school? Do these kids have any classes ever? Is this a novel pedagogical experiment on autonomous learning? Do parents sign up their kids here to teach them they gotta punch their way through life? Laughing I feel like I didn't notice these things all that much in S1 but this season we've had so many scenes in the classroom i can't stop asking myself these questions.

Not that it's a bad thing. As long as the story and characterization keeps delivering, I'm willing to take my suspension of disbelief that far. It's honestly impressive how well this show hits all those emotional climaxes, even if they might seem heavy-handed they feel genuine and earned. Having a B plot about Sakura being held back from his after school punching activities because he failed his midterms wouldn't add anything to the story. Still fun to ponder

Thanks, that gave me a good laugh. "No punching anyone until you get your grades up, young man!"

I hope Sakura doesn't "date" Tsubaki because it doesn't need to become that kind of show. No romance please.

Eh whatever. If it helps build his character and gets him to be more accepting and trusting of others then it’s fine.

I think the characterization of Tsubakino has that "author doesn't really know the difference between gay and trans" feel, but it also has the "heart in the right place" feel.
I didn't like the comment about how the differences between men and women are very important but whatever.
Mostly I'm happy that Tsubakino is a gay character in a Jump manga adaption and his introduction didn't involve anyone being repulsed! Sakura was suprised but even that got Nirei scolding him for being rude. All these boys knew Tsubakino likes Ume and don't care, and Ume isn't digusted that a guy likes him.

Anyway if I'm ever recommending this show to anyone my pitch is "imagine the most emotionally mature teenage boys possible. They are beating the shit out of each other"

If the previous episode didn't already turn off the certain set of people that got the Crunchroll comment section removed then the end of this episode would have absolutely destroyed them. Good on Suo for being impressed and Nirei for just enjoying the show. Sakura had the reaction we would have expected no matter who was on that stage. Laughing

Tsubakino is a cross dresser that is gay and not trans, he is a guy. I see what you mean with the "author doesn't really know the difference between gay and trans" but at the same time he is doing what is "meant for girls" and since his growing up story was be what you want to be, do whatever you want Male or Female. The "author doesn't really know the difference between gay and trans" comment is kinda wrong imo

GRAVEL did not participate in the fight yet. That's coming up. The guys they fought in this episode were apparently part of the same unnamed gang that the boys got into it with last week when they rescued Shizuka from them. That's why the GRAVEL guys didn't care that the first group got beat down. They were not only not their team, but they were also competition, so the Roppo Ichiza crew actually did them a favor by stomping them.

All that happened with GRAVEL was establishing that whoever wants Shizuka has put up a bounty among gangs far and wide, and then a long philosophical discussion about why they fight and that it doesn't matter if they lose, they'll still fight. Then the neckties and jackets came off as they stepped forward to battle, and roll the rest of the credits.

GRAVEL looks to be a tougher bunch, and our guys are already tired from the first mob. But hopefully Tsubaki and the twins will get to strut their stuff as well next week.
