Congrats. However, one might think a more popular burger chain like Burger King, Wendy's, or McD's would do such a collaboration.

Don't think the popular burger chains (McD's, BK, or Wendy's) in the US would be that interested in doing a collaboration with such a niche IP. They tend to go for the more well known ones. |

Don't know if I'd call Spy × Family niche, maybe it's not as popular in the West as other shonen manga series like Demon Slayer, Naruto, Dragon Ball, etc., but I've seen enough people with S×F merch, including kids, to think that maybe it could have a collaboration with bigger companies. The problem is that, while Spy × Family is considered appropriate for all ages in Japan, and maybe even in some other countries, I don't know if chain like McDonald's or BK would like to make a collaboration with a series featuring an assassin, terrorists, etc. McDonald's got intro trouble when they made a Happy Meal pomtion for Batman Returns. |

Point, I was thinking more with regards to an IP standpoint rather than a public optics standpoint, especially with what's going on in the US as it's getting a little spicy to say the least. |

Whoa didn't think a lesser well-known or an unknown burger chain (I've never heard of it prior to this article) would be licensing and marketing Spy X Family stuff. But yeah, this is something.
I agreed with Kadmos on her perspective. Spy X Family is not an unknown franchise, it's featured in Shonen Jump alongside mainstream stuff in the US like Dragonball, Naruto, One Piece, Demon Slayers, My Hero Academia, etc... I've seen Spy X Family merchandise and other stuff being marketed alongside other mainstream products at store like Hot Topic, and stuff that sell graphic t-shirts of popular mainstream anime/manga stuff. So it should've been possible for Burger King, or even Shake Shack to license and market Spy X Family instead of a unknown burger joint I've never even heard of. |

Sadly, we aren't exactly privy to how the deal with Trill Burgers went down for licensing the Spy X Family franchise. Still, it's interesting how the other well known burger joints took a pass on that franchise.

Those are in Japan, and that's true. But for a unknown burger joint like Trill Burgers to do this in the US is just mind-blowing, and that leave a lot of anime/manga fans baffling despite the medium is already mainstream in the US. Also, Spy X Family is published in Shonen Jump alongside established mainstream titles like Dragonball, Naruto, One Piece, My Hero Academia, etc... That's why people like Kadmos and myself find this partnership in the US a bit baffling. |

its probably baffling because you are thinking too hard about it. A Houston area burger chain wanted to do something fun and got permission to do so. That's all that really matters here

Actually, it doesn't make sense for a unknown burger joint like Trill Burgers to be marketing Spy X Family over mainstream franchise like McDonalds, and Burger King when in Japan, the same mainstream franchises I just mentioned have already done collaborative marketing with Spy X Family already. So that's why I find this baffling too. |

Trill Burgers wanted to do something fun, the various McDonald's franchise owners don't have any interest in doing this. makes perfect sense. I 'd had never heard of them before this either, but thast because I have never been to Houston nor do I spend time researching various independent burger chains across the country. Doesn't matter though.

I lived in Katy (which is part of Houston) since 2018. and I've never heard of this burger joint, and I can't find any information on this on Wikipedia, and Trill Burgers is not a nationwide or statewide mainstream franchise compared to Burger King, McDonald, Shake Shack, or something on that level. That's why I was left baffled why an unknown burger joint was able to get the licensing and marketing for Spy X Family despite Trill Burger is still unknown to even some part of Texas. That's why I found it baffling to me. |

Whoa, I wasn't aware of this (and this is the first time I've heard of this, and oddly enough, ANN has never reported on this). OK, that's an interesting way to market toward anime fans in that area, and now I understand why they only used low-tier non-mainstream joint instead of mainstream stuff like McDonald's, Burger King, etc... And that kind of make sense to me. |
