Man, I would give anything for Keiko Takeymiya works to get beautiful English print editions...her work is crucial to shojo, BL, and shonen alike.

I feel bad that this manga and its anime adaptations are not more widely known. They are true masterpieces. The story, world-building, and character development are all outstanding. The second anime modernized much of the visuals and action, even if it changes the tone in places. I would easily put them in my top five.

In any case, the importance of Keiko Takemiya to manga cannot be overstated. She helped redefine expressions, psychological depth, emotion, and bold themes that were rare at the time.
