the thing is....they NEED to go fast with future diary since its scheduled for 25 episodes or 26. the manga has over 60 chapters and its a monthly manga a very wordy one at that. since their going too the spoiler[fourth fight] soon its going to be getting alot better...but it could also be more rushed. but despite that its my second favorite anime this season with shana 3 being my number one and fate zero or persona being the third followed by chihayafuru. oh and i should mention but the breeders diary pretty much tells you what the dogs are doing and where they are.

Huh. So there are people still out there who don't like Hisoka. Interesting. Well, he's not just "random clown guy". He's one of the most important characters in the story.

It is kind of funny that they've been in Trick Tower for all of 3 episodes (per the episodes covered in this review) and you're already begging them to be done with it. That is honestly fast for shounen. Very, very fast. Look how long the Chuunin Exam lasted in Naruto (from episode 20 to the late 60s). The Hunter Exam will likely be done in less than half of that time, so it's amusing to hear such a complaint. Are you not all that familiar with shounen anime Bamboo?

Yes, the person who wrote Shelf Life for like 8 years, watches everything for the season previews and now writes this column isn't very familiar with shonen anime.

Well, exactly. I figured after she watched 30 episodes of Namek blowing up 2 or 3 times that it is quite silly to be so exhausted after a relatively much shorter time with a relatively faster paced show.

I dunno, if I had to watch Namek take 30 episodes to explode 2 or 3 times, my patience for anything would wear pretty thin. Laughing

Dang it! I was really hoping that Bamboo would noticed that in Future Diary spoiler[Akise is a total Kawrou expy.] Same eye & hair color, same voice actor, spoiler[both have an obvious crush on the male protagonist. It's like a weird shout out to Evangelion. Haven't read the manga but if he dies of decapitation, I won't be surprised.]

Anyway, I really didn't like the match with Leorio.
Question to the Hunter X Hunter manga fans: is Leorio a perverted idiot in the manga or is this a bad adaption of him?

Still love Chihayafuru; the one show I have no complaints with!!!

No offense... but you only had 2 episodes of Majikoi left. Might as well finish it, if only to say you did. It's only 40 more minutes, you can do it.

I think Bamboo will probably be more pleased with the next episode of Future Diary. Regarding the "Breeder's Diary," despite it's silly name, it seems to spoiler[simply be a future diary that reveals things about the dogs' futures. Which follows the pattern of the other future diaries, since the guy who got it was seemingly obsessed with his dogs and must have spent a lot of time writing about them. It doesn't specifically help someone control the dogs, the dogs simply are trained to follow various commands and have transmitters on them that let the commands be relayed over a distance.]

Don't worry Bamboo, at the point you're at the repetition of Persona 4 is pretty much over and the formula is about to mix it up.

He's a pervert, not an idiot. And this adaptation showed that he was quite intelligent, seeing through their plan with Majitani and finding a way to get that match settled quickly. Leroute was simply more cunning and used various means to unnerve him.

It's not the duration, it's the content. The Trick Tower is not interesting. The Chuunin Exam was.

You can't compare Shounen Anime Mini-Arc A with Shounen Anime Mini-Arc B just because they're both Shounen Anime. Being a shounen anime doesn't give any series a free pass. I love Hunter x Hunter, but the Trick Tower was a snooze.

ya things are about to get really interesting with persona 4 but I am really surprised at just how fast it has gone through that section. the charcters stories where never rushed I felt. however back to back to back was unexpected for me atleast. I have been really enjoying persona 4 though, Though I did beat the game.
I am still amazed you have not dropped guilty crown let alone that you put it above UNGO. UNGO is easily one of the best shows this season I think.
here is my list so far for what is legal (aka not including penguindrum)
Top four are really close together
Hunterxhunter- I ended up watching this part of the exam (the 5 prisinors part) and liorio's section fluorished with the aditional time it was given, the series was to long though and the new version seems to strike a happy blance between it's pacing and the chartcers being given enough time
chihayafuru- Nana meets Hikaru no Go while it can't match either title in my heart or quality it comes pretty close.
fate/zero- this is one amazing fun, imagitive ride, I love the world building and how people who didn't see the orginal or play the novels can get involded easily enough, strong pacing, charcters, and writing save the series from having to many charcters and having to spend a lot of time on all of them.
UN-GO- this show has so much going on and is so interesting it is an absolute joy to watch it every week
persona 4- tune in and die, great charcters, themes, and great voice acting, and writing make even the most formulaic and iffy scenes a joy.
kimi to boku- this series is a breath of fresh, fun, relaxing air
Future diary- I do like you but I will only watch you once and you have a high chance of going nuts... so I'll wait for the inevitable dub
guilty crown- material for the ultimite abriged series, other then the music and animation, it's plot wreaks far worse then steamboys

I am surprised only 4 shows have been dropped so far, let alone that 2 of them where this week, though I could see the end coming for both of those series.
I still say that there is no way that GC is better then UNGO, it might not fully expand on things as much as one would want. but it is very simular to fate/zero in that it is a fun roller coster ride with great world biulding, and unlike fate zero, It has a point and is extermally realvent. also the mysteries in it have been great so far, even if it suffers from the same problem as kami-sama no memo chou/ god's notebook (heveanly memopad is akward, and mistranslated), and gosick. but I still think ungo is atleast as good as gosick when it starts firing on all cylinders.

Hunter x Hunter may be in a slow spot right now but you can tell they're making progress. They should be moving on in another episode or two. But one sort of has to expect this type of stretching from a shonen series.

I would be tempted to drop Last Exile but it's only suppose to be 13 episodes long so there should only about five episodes left. I think I can make it through the rest of the series and there is the chance that the ending might actually be worthwhile. I only really bothered with it because of it's relation to the original Last Exile but it's nowhere near as interesting. Although the flying sequences are interesting enough.

Psi-Brain isn't bad as long as you don't expect too much from it. I do find my interest in the show dropping and it is a little harder to get into each episode, but I don't think I'll drop it yet. I think it's suppose to be about 25 episodes long although it looks like the sort of show that might have been better served with only 13.

I ended up dropping two streamed shows this week too, so close to the "end" but not worth finishing anyway. They were both the ones you seem to have wisely never started, so you saved yourself the grief.

C3 With tone shifts so sudden and jarring you'd think repetitiveness might not be such a problem- after all, it's two shows. The moe show with the girls who love the dweeb and the fighting shows with the psycho chicks that throw around weapons. Yet both halves are repetitive in themselves. A new character was introduced who is a repeat of aspects of two (or three) other characters, she's a cursed "item" who resembles a loli girl, like fear, PLUS, she a doll... another doll, they just finished a arc about a doll (or is it two? I thought I knew which one was the doll but then I got confused when it seemed the other one was the doll... and who cares- that story stunk either way. There's a new psycho villainess who is obnoxiously pompous like the swearing one, but she doesn't swear, she titters and mocks.

Maken-Ki I really don't know how I lasted so long with this show. Really boring Ecchi harem set-up, grotesque big tittied girls (seriously, tits that regularly stick out like sharpened Hersey's Kisses and melon sized breast that bounce about independently of the subjects movements). A "plot" that has yet to show up. I guess it was the occasional quiet moments, when the guy merely spends some times with a harem girl he comes off pretty well, he's a bit of a pervert, but a pretty nice guy. But it's not enough- there aren't many quiet parts, it's mostly screechy female character getting clothes shredded in stupid situations, beating on the guy whose apartment they've all invaded because he walked in on one of them naked again or leering at a girl that isn't the one he's currently with, etc. It makes no difference that I haven't finished the show, what I have seen is bound to be forgotten anyway.
