Eiko Masuyama (best known as the voice of Fujiko Mine in Lupin III), who plays a minor character in Cutey Honey Flash, was the voice of Cutey Honey in the original series.

According to episode 11, Honey's birthdate is February 8, 1981.

Ai Nagano originally auditioned for the part of Natsuko in Cutey Honey Flash. She was called back in to read for Honey, which became her debut role.

Gorgon Claw is modeled after Boss, Boss Robot, and Archduke Gorgon from Mazinger Z.

Miho Shimogasa would go on to do key animation for the Re: Cutie Honey opening sequence.

Scud Panther is based on Drill Claw from the original Cutie Honey series, as well as Janus Marquis from Great Mazinger.

Freddy Claw is based on Dr. Hell and Count Brocken from Mazinger Z.

This is the only Cutie Honey anime in which Kosei Tomita does not voice Danbei.

In the final episode only, Honey is listed as "Honey Hayami" in the ending credits.

Saturn Baby Claw is voiced by Naoko Matsui, who previous voiced the Jewel Princess in New Cutey Honey.

Episode 36 features two female wrestlers - "Kong the Heel" and "Princess Yuri." Both are homages to real-life wrestlers, Aja Kong and Megumi Kudo.

The voice actress for Cutter Claw, Urara Takano previously voiced Siren in New Cutey Honey.

Episode 19 is loosely based on episode 12 of the original TV series. Both episodes feature a phantom ship, as well as Honey disguising herself as a mermaid.

According to Miho Shimogasa, fans of the original were upset that Cutey Honey Flash was toned down, while parents complained this version was not toned down enough.

Misty Honey's name was chosen through a contest. Originally, her name was slated to be "Dirty Honey." Misty Honey was the name of Honey's singer form from the original series.

In this version, Panther Zora is Sister Jill's mother. In the original series, they were siblings.

Unlike the original series, Danbei and Seiji are not related. This is also the only version is which Danbei does not have the surname "Hayami."

In episode 11, there's a poster of Misty Honey with the text "Coming Soon." Misty Honey would make her formal debut in episode 14.

In episode 15, Honey's "Swan Honey" form is an homage to Jun from Gatchaman.

The main three scientists from Mazinger Z all appear in episode 31.
