In a 1986 interview with Starlog magazine, Chris Columbus presented the concept for an unmade episode that would of been titled "The Day the School Stood Still". The plot was going to be about the Intergalactic Board of Trustees closing down the school after a cafeteria food fight went out of hand. The school would only reopen unless the kids can prove the great experiment of Galaxy High being a success.

The episode title in episode 2, is a spoof to John Huston’s 1985 movie “Prizzi's Honor”.

Mutie the mechanic in episode 2 is based on the Mutant from Joseph M. Newman’s & Jack Arnold’s science fiction movie “This Island Earth”.

The episode title in episode 3, is a spoof to John Huston’s 1975 movie “The Man Who Would Be King”.

The plot in episode 3 was inspired by the “Lost in Space” season 1 episode 24 titled “His Majesty Smith”.

The episode title in episode 5, is a spoof to Michael Pressman’s 1980 romantic comedy movie “Those Lips, Those Eyes”.

Goof: In episode 5, as the gang is dining at Luigi's Pizza, their table number changes from 7 to 5 and back again.

In episode 7, Reggie in one scene paraphrases Billy Crystal as Fernando from “Saturday Night Live” when she says "You look mah-velous."

Chris Columbus stated that the title in episode 8 was originally going to be titled "To Surf with Love".

Goof: In episode 8, Doyle's ski outfit changes from being green to red and back again during the first scene in the locker room when Gilda passes by him.
