Trivia:

Pokes fun at Jerry Rice, Joe Montana, baseball player Hideo Nomo, UFC fighter Bob Sapp and the Dallas Cowboys.

A common misconception spouted by the Taiyo Sphinx player Kamaguruma is that the "ancient" Egyptians had chariots around the same time as pyramids. However, chariots came into prevalence after pyramids were built.

The outfit Mamori wears in the chapter 53 of volume 7 of Eyeshield is from Marilyn Monroe's Seven Year Itch.

The panel in vol.7 where Musashi first demonstrates his soccer kick is inspired from Shaolin Soccer, which is in turn inspired from the soccer series Captain Tsubasa.

Kotaro Sasaki's character design has a similar appearance to that of John Travolta's character in Grease. However, it could just be the traditional yanki look which coincidentally borrows from 50's fashion.

The depiction of NASA high school as being a space aged skyscraper is ironic. The actual Johnson Space Center, the control center for all space missions, in Houston was built on a site with buildings meant to be use for a University. It really isn't futuristic at all, it looks like a school.

In chapter 53s cover, the main gang is shown as characters from famous movies: Sena as Harry Potter (and devilbat as an owl?), Hiruma as Neo from Matrix with his famous dogde, Kurita and Komusubi as the E.T. pair with their bike, Yukimitsu as C-3PO from Star Wars, Mamori as Marilyn Monroe as pictured in Seven Years Itch, and the Huh Huh Bros (Juumonji, Kuroki and Toganou) doing the famous pose from Titanic.
