21-year-old actor Junpei Mizobata will play the title role in the third live-action Detective Conan television special this April. Mizobata has starred in the live-action adaptations of Hana-Kimi, 81Diver, Shibatora, and later this year, High School Debut.
18-year-old actress Shiori Kutsuna will play Conan's constant companion Ran Mori. She also appeared in the live-action adaptations of Mei-chan no Shitsuji, Beck, and Gota Keshi: Jidan Kōshōnin Shirai Torajirō.
The new special is part of the 15th anniversary celebration of the television anime series and the related films. Shun Oguri (Hana Yori Dango, Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa, Hana-Kimi) starred in the first live-action Detective Conan television special in 2006 as part of the anime's 10th anniversary. He reprised the role in a second special the following year.
